"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
 name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20

What is Discipleship?

What's a Disciple?
Disciple - A student.
In the Bible the word is used most often to refer to a follower of Jesus. The word “Disciple” is rarely used in the old testament. Prophet Isaiah used the term “disciples" to refer to those who are taught or instructed by a teacher.

“Bind up this testimony of warning
and seal up God's instruction among my disciples.”
 -Isaiah 8:16 NIV
"Bind up the testimony..." and "...seal up God's instructions..." mean that the words would be written down and preserved for future generation. We see this because the word's “Bind up” and “Seal up”, in our way of speaking, we would say, “Put away”. God is saying, “it's not time, so put this away until it's time.”.

The writer's of the bible faithfully preserved the teaching of God and passed on these words from generation to generation. That is the reason we have bible today.

I know what a Disciple is, but what is Discipleship?
The Writer's/Prophet's/Authors of the many book's of the bible gave us an example or a starting point of Discipleship. Each of us need to accept the responsibility to pass on God's word. Encouraging them to love the bible, read it, and learn from it. Then they will faithfully pass it on to their children and grandchildren.

Where can we receive/give discipleship at?
Church is a great place to get discipleship at for yourself and others, but if you are witnessing and you can't get no one to church, then it's your own special job to ensure that when a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ into their life, that they somehow keep on learning about their new savior and relationship with the Lord Jesus.

As an evangelist, it's not only your job to bring people to Christ, but make sure they receive a way of growing with Christ. For Only Way Ministry, we do it with a website, bible's and tract's. But for you, that may just be a whole other story.
